⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Amazing relief from shoulder/neck pain

"I was recommended Tony after I was experiencing some pain whilst weight training. After a quick phone call, he advised a pressure point therapy massage. He was absolutely amazing in removing tension I had and had clearly held for a very long time. After the first session I felt better than I had felt in years. I would highly recommend giving Tony a visit!"

Q: Is Trigger Point Massage Painful?
A: You may experience some discomfort during treatment, particularly when a trigger point is being released, and also depending on the level of inflammation in the tissues. However, the pressure will always be kept within your tolerance level. Many of my clients describe the sensation as a "good pain" that feels like pressure releasing tension within the muscle. Any tenderness experienced after treatment usually settles within 24–48 hours.

Q: How Many Sessions Will I Need?
A: This varies depending on the nature and duration of your condition. Recent injuries or minor muscular issues may improve after 1 or 2 sessions. Long-standing chronic pain patterns often require several treatments combined with stretching, strengthening exercises & postural corrections. During your appointment, I'll give guidance on a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.

Q: Why Do Trigger Points Develop?
A: Trigger points commonly develop due to Sports injuries, Repetitive movements, Poor posture, Physical and/or Emotional stress, Long hours sitting at a desk, Driving for extended periods, or Overtraining or heavy physical work.

These are common issues for people working in offices, healthcare, hospitality, farming, construction and manufacturing jobs.

Q: Can Trigger Point Massage Improve Sports Performance?
A: Yes. By reducing muscular tension and improving range of motion, trigger point therapy can help athletes move more efficiently and recover more effectively. Many runners, cyclists, golfers, GAA & Rugby players and gym-goers use Trigger Point Massage to address muscle imbalances and maintain peak performance. Improved flexibility, strength and movement patterns are common benefits.

Q: What Happens During My 1st Appointment?
A: Your 1st appointment with me typically includes Discussion of your symptoms/medical history, Postural assessment, Range of motion testing, Identification of trigger points, Hands-on treatment, plus Advice on stretching, movement & self-care strategies.

The aim is to identify the root cause of your pain & create a treatment plan that provides lasting relief rather than temporary symptom management.

Q: Is Trigger Point

Here are some answers to some recent questions I've received from people enquiring about Trigger Point Massage.

Q: Does Trigger Point Massage Actually Work?
A: Yes. Trigger Point Massage is a well-established treatment used to address muscular pain, tension and restricted movement caused by "myofascial trigger points" (more commonly known as muscle knots). Research over several decades has shown that trigger points can contribute significantly to pain and dysfunction in muscles and connective tissues. Trigger point therapy works by identifying these sensitive areas and applying specific techniques to release them, helping reduce pain and improve movement.

My clients frequently report improvements in mobility, reduced pain levels and increased strength after treatment. Many clients from all over Kerry, and even from Cork and Limerick, attend for issues such as neck pain, shoulder tension, lower back pain, sports injuries and muscle tightness.

Q: How Long Should a Trigger Point Massage Session Last?
A: The ideal treatment length depends on the area being treated and the severity of your symptoms.

My Trigger Point Massage sessions are available as:

30 minutes – suitable for a specific problem area such as the neck, shoulder, calf or lower back.
45 minutes – ideal for treating multiple related muscle groups.
60 minutes – recommended for more complex or chronic issues affecting areas of the body.

Many clients initially book a 45 or 60-minute session so sufficient time can be spent identifying the underlying cause of their pain rather than simply treating the symptoms.

Q: What's the Difference Between Trigger Point Massage and Regular Massage?
A: A regular relaxation massage focuses primarily on reducing stress and promoting general wellbeing. Trigger Point Massage is much more targeted. It focuses on identifying specific trigger points within muscles that are causing pain, restricted movement or referred pain elsewhere in the body.

Trigger Point Massage may help with:

✅ ️Neck and shoulder tension
✅ Lower back pain
✅ Sciatica-related muscular tightness
✅ Headaches caused by muscle tension
✅ Sports injuries
✅ Running injuries
✅ Calf and hamstring tightness
✅ Postural problems
✅ Desk-related aches and pains
✅ Muscle spasms
✅ Reduced flexibility and mobility

Many of my clients travel from around Kerry, as well as from around Cork and Limerick, specifically for treatment of chronic muscular pain that has not responded well to other approaches.

I will add more commonly asked questions about Trigger Point Massage therapy in my next post.
